Invermere Fire Rescue Society
Invermere Fire Rescue, a 30 member on call volunteer department, operates the JAWS Rescue Vehicle for extrication of trapped persons. Although most calls are to motor vehicle incidents, attendance has been made to aircraft and industrial accidents. Due to the growing recreational nature of the area, response to many diverse calls is on the rise. We respond to more than 100 calls per year over half of which are rescue calls. Although the fire fighting equipment is supplied by the District of Invermere, the equipment for road rescue is not provided by any government agency. The fire fighters formed a society to address that need.
The Golden Hour is the time from the start of the incident until the patient is in a Trauma Center. Statistics show the patient’s chances of survival are the greatest in this hour, and drop sharply after that. Extraction is a continually developing specialty, requiring training and the right equipment for the job.
We have the new equipment!
We have the training!
Now we need the truck!!
Sponsorship Requests
The Invermere Fire Rescue Society has undertaken the challenge of raising funds for the purpose of replacing their rescue vehicle. They are currently using a 1991 Ford F150 along with a Ford 1-Ton Quick Response vehicle this combination is proving not only cumbersome but inadequate as well. The area serviced by the Rescue Vehicle covers a multitude of various jurisdictions at all levels of government, thus placing the Society into an independent fundraising campaign to achieve its goal.
Over the years the Lake Windermere District Lions Club has supported this vital community need and once again has stepped forward and offered the services of their Foundation to spearhead this fundraising drive.
Located in beautiful, rural British Columbia, the Invermere Fire Rescue volunteers find themselves traveling not only on highways and industrial roadways but also along isolated back roads to accident scenes. The current underpowered and out-dated vehicles place restrictions on the ability to reach these sites in a timely fashion, along with constraints on required equipment carried because of capacity issues. A new vehicle will reduce critical on site arrival time, allow for more equipment and rescue personnel to reach the site so they will ultimately provide those life saving and rescue functions better than ever.
We realize in asking for financial support the amount can vary. To assist you, seven contribution levels are being offered. As mentioned, the Lake Windermere District Lions Foundation has taken on this project and will be providing official tax receipts from their registered charitable foundation. Your company or organization will be acknowledged according to the level of your donation.
