The Lake Windermere Lions Foundation
The Lake Windermere District Lions Foundation was founded on December 31,2004, fulfilling a long term vision. The foundation allowed the Lions Club to expand it's benevolence in the community. By being both a Service club and a Foundation the Lions members could now offer broader philanthropy assistance within the community. The purpose of the foundation is to gift funds to other registered charities or organizations that qualify under the definition as a charity that will improve community life in the Upper Columbia Valley.
For the first 2 years after inception the foundation went through a "setting up" phase with its executive learning how to govern this new entity, making contact with other foundations and setting up internal operations. Beginning in 2005 the foundation began dispersing grants throughout the area of service. In 2008 we took on our first project "Road To Rescue" which is outlined under our Current Projects section.
